Having recently served as CEO for AustCyber since its 2018 inception, Price is set to start the new role at EY on 2 May.

On the appointment, Richard Bergman, EY Oceania cyber security leader commented that the company is thrilled” to have someone of Price’s calibre in the cyber security sector join EY.

“Michelle has a distinguished career as an instrumental figure responsible for the growth of Australia’s cyber security entrepreneurial talent and assuring a diverse pipeline of people and technology capabilities for the industry and wider economy.

“She will be leading the government and public sector team within EY Oceania cyber security practice and primarily focused on protecting digital government and essential services.

Michelle will also grow EY’s cyber security ecosystem and the industry including working with start-up and the private equity community, Bergman said.

Price was with AustCyber government-backed organisation, which merged with start-up hub Stone & Chalk a year ago, since its founding in January 2017 as Australia's Cyber Security Industry Growth Centre.

Her role will now be replaced by Michael Bromley, CEO of Stone & Chalk Group, who will take control of AustCyber as part of the integration with the hub.

According to AustCyber chairman Doug Elix, AustCyber has helped build an industry that now involves more than 600 companies, including 350 locally born start-ups and scale ups.

It is with mixed feelings that we have received this news.

Michelle has done exactly what the Australian governments Industry Growth Center Initiative was designed to do.

"She led AustCyber to help build a national network of globally competitive companies, boost Australian employment and provide sovereign capability in the critical field of cyber security.

Elix added that Price is an outstanding and respected leader recognised for her expertise and leadership in the cyber security industry.

Following the appointment announcement, Price is very excited to be joining EY; who mentioned that it was a good fit.

It was a perfect cultural fit with its transformational approach to tackling cyber security challenges with clients, and a global network of leading practitioners and resources, to continue my passion for the cyber security sector and protecting Australia, Price said.

Bergman added that EY is really excited that Price is joining their growing cyber practice, to apply and expand her reach and impact with their clients who will benefit from her deep experience.

The depth of cyber talent in the EY ranks continues to ensure that clients across all sectors and service lines are well served by leading professionals who understand the ever-changing threat environment, Bergman said.
