Leading NZ organisations including ANZ New Zealand, Kiwibank and NZ Post were hit with a DDoS attack on Wednesday and Thursday, leading to several outages.
Leading financial and services institutions in New Zealand were hit by a DDoS attack on Wednesday and Thursday this week, leading to outages across several of their online platforms.
The New Zealand government’s main cyber security agency confirmed that it is currently investigating the attack.
CERT NZ is aware of a DDoS attack targeting a number of New Zealand organisations. We are monitoring the situation and are working with affected parties where we can.

The recent DDoS operation follows a recent DDoS attack on one of the nation’s internet providers Vocus, which manages Flip, Orcon, Slingshot and Stuff Fibre’s internet, leaving thousands of New Zealanders without internet as Vocus lost internet for 30 minutes.
The most recent attack saw New Zealand Post go offline, while the NZ government’s MetService routed users to their back-up site.
Meanwhile, Kiwibank and ANZ New Zealand saw their customer facing services disrupted.
