PTC’s augmented reality platform will be able to show up to 300,000 square feet.
PTC announced that its Vuforia augmented reality (AR) program has been expanded to include the new Vuforia Engine Area Targets platform. The improved platform will allow AR realms of up to 300,000 square feet.
It is hoped that this will allow staff to undertake training in larger and more complex environments, as well as allowing businesses to enhance their floor space.
PTC has partnered with Matterport, Leica 3D and NavVis to create the improved platform.
Executive vice president and general manager of augmented reality at PTC, Mike Campbell, demonstrated how the platform can improve business processes.
“Vuforia Engine Area Targets is a one-of-a-kind solution for large, persistent AR experiences,” Campbell said.
“Whether users are looking to add navigation to their office building or view in-context data on a factory floor, Area Targets is the answer. We’re pleased to be expanding such a key capability and component of PTC’s spatial computing vision.”
