Cloud security company Zscaler has appointed Heng Mok as chief information security officer (CISO), Asia-Pacific.

Heng Mok, who will be based in Melbourne, will be responsible for leading the digital transformation offering, supporting companies as they adopt cloud, AI, data analytics and remote working.

The new appointee joins Zscaler from AGL Energy, where he served as CISO for almost two years.

Heng Mok holds over 20 years of experience across a range of industries, including financial services, government and telecommunications. His previous employers include ANZ, NAB and PWC.

Over the course of his career, Heng Mok’s responsibilities included risk management, compliance, technical design, infrastructure security, architectural processes, application security, security architecture and strategy.

“I'm thrilled to have Heng join the team and look forward to the positive impact he will have in helping us scale throughout the APJ region, sharing his deep expertise in cyber security, data governance, risk, cloud, AI, data analytics, remote working and digital transformation,” Kavitha Mariappan, executive vice-president, customer experience and transformation at Zscaler said.

Heng Mok welcomed the opportunity to drive Zscaler’s security operations in the Asia-Pacific.

“I’m excited to join Zscaler at this pivotal time when the company is innovating at a rapid pace,” he said.

“At the same time, the company has incredible opportunities for innovation in 2022 and beyond, resulting from last year’s acquisitions of Smokescreen for cyber security deploy capabilities and TrustDome for Cloud Infrastructure Entitlement Management.

“I’m also looking forward to working with customers on deploying our new capabilities for digital experience monitoring, including support for Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and ServiceNow as well as extending zero trust enforcement for users to cloud workloads and applications.
