UK-based cyber security news site Threat. Technology unveiled their top 20 global cyber security podcasts this week, with Momentum Media’s Defence Connect podcast hosted by Phil Tarrant ranking number one the list.

The Australian-based Defence Connect podcast brings together key decision makers from government, Defence and defence industry to share their unique perspectives on how to enhance the Australian Defence Force and bolster Australia’s national resilience.

Ranking second and third behind the Defence Connect podcast was “Cyber From The Start” and “Cyber Security Dispatch” released by the Center for Strategic and International Studies and Andy Anderson, respectively.

Phillip Tarrant, director of Momentum Media's defence, national security and aerospace business, welcomed Threat. Technology’s announcement, outlining that national security and resilience must be analysed by taking all five domains of warfare into account.

"The podcast aims to connect people from across defence to build a resilient and innovative defence establishment," Tarrant said. "From the traditional land, air and sea domains – to our increasingly important space and cyber domains – each has a critical part to play in Australia's national security ecosystem. That's what makes Defence Connect so unique."

Over recent months, the podcast has hosted executives from leading defence industry contractors such as chief executive of Northrop Grumman Australia Chris Deeble, leading political figures such as senator James Paterson, chair of the parliamentary joint committee on intelligence and security, and leading uniformed members of the armed forces such as the current head of Navy engineering Rear Admiral Katherine Richards.

Tarrant hosts the podcast, with new episodes released weekly.
