Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group and CSIRO's Data61 have partnered on cyber research and will hold a networking event for those in the defence industry.

DST Group and Data61 are currently working with more than 10 universities with collaborative research projects in the cyber domain.

The organisations said that as the national cyber innovation community continues to rapidly evolve, Defence will be better positioned to leverage that community as the connections between participants are strengthened.

As such, both organisations are calling for academia and industry to joint DST, Data61 and the ACSGN (Australian Cyber Security Growth Network) for a networking workshop, designed to grow and strengthen connections within the cyber innovation community, in particular those with potential relevance to Defence.

Participants will each provide five-minute 'pitches' on their research and development capabilities that might have Defence applications, and there will be opportunity to workshop those capability areas where synergies emerge.

Pitches are to relate to four broad research themes: cyber influence and data analytics; sensing to effects; autonomous systems; and system design for resilience.

The one-day event will be held at the National Wine Centre in Adelaide on Tuesday, 28 November 2017.

Expressions of interests can be made through the DST Group website and close on 3 November.
