With the validation of the Dragos Platform on Emerson’s DeltaV distributed control system (DCS), organisations will be able to more readily access ICS/OT cyber security solutions.

According to Dragos, the recently expanded agreement builds on a previous global agreement between the two companies to provide industries control systems and operational technologies for utilities providers across numerous industries.

The industries include energy, water, gas, oil, petrochemicals, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper, metals and mining.

Dragos’ platform protects industrial environments from cyber risk, providing visibility into assets and vulnerabilities, detecting threats and facilitating efficient responses with thorough investigation and standard operating processes.

The announcement is further expected to incorporate some of DeltaV DCS’ capabilities into Dragos’ platform. Such integrations include protocol dissectors, asset characterisations and threat behaviour analytics.

Not only will users benefit from improved threat detection and a broader range of OT cyber security services, but the agreement will combine the collective knowledge of both companies – which will enhance the benefit to their customer base.

“We recognise the increasing risk from the growing number of both targeted and untargeted cyber threats against industrial operations and are committed to continuously strengthening our OT cyber security capabilities with best-in-class technology that allow us to proactively address the evolving threat environment head-on,” Alexandre Peixoto, cybersecurity business director of Emerson’s process systems and software business, said.

“Expanding our agreement with Dragos allows us to offer market-leading ICS/OT-specific cyber security to a large, diverse section of our customer base and provide the processing and manufacturing community with the protection they need to safely and efficiently run their operations.”

The agreement was welcomed by Matt Cowell, vice president of business development at Dragos, noting that it will enable the companies to protect a broader range of companies.

“Emerson has been a fantastic collaborator and we are proud of the work we have done together to help power producers and water utilities securely run their operations,” he said.

“By growing our agreement and bringing industrial cyber security to an even wider group of industries, we are able to reach and protect a wider array of organisations in the process industry sector, many of whom are just embarking on the path of digital transformation and have immediate needs to reduce risk as they expand connectivity.”
