Nova Systems to deliver POC for cyber security growth network

Nova Systems has joined a consortium focused on developing and delivering a platform that will help build Australia’s future cyber security capability for the Australian Cyber Security Growth Network (AustCyber).

AustCyber is the industry-led, not-for-profit responsible for delivering the activities of the Cyber Security Growth Centre initiative. As part of this role, AustCyber partially funds initiatives that advance the Australian cyber security ecosystem.

Key consortium members include:

Fifth Domain (consortium leader);
College of Engineering & Computer Science, The Australian National University;
Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT); and
Nova Systems.

Nova Systems will deliver professional information technology, cyber security and project management for the consortium, by utilising cross-domain knowledge to enable the deployment, integration, testing and validation of the CIT training facilities.

Drawing on organic subject matter expertise to develop realistic and detailed training scenarios, Nova Systems will utilise cutting-edge automated attack and testing platforms to support a practical and effective learning environment.

Nova Systems program manager, information and cyber security Greg McKinnon said, "This project will focus on two key areas for development of cyber security products, and the future-proofing of government and business, through the upskilling of employees in entrance level cyber security training."

Leveraging its extensive engagement and experience across Defence, federal government, critical infrastructure, resources and commercial sectors, Nova Systems will identify, develop and incorporate new technologies and methodologies as the program progresses to evolve the training environment to ensure students build knowledge, skills and abilities that are relevant and desirable to Australian cyber security employers.

"We will work closely with Fifth Domain to integrate the existing TAFE curriculum into Fifth Domain's learning management system," McKinnon said.

The project is valued at $1.1 million, with $547,000 funded under the AustCyber’s Project Fund. The project will run from 1 July 2018 to 30 June 2019.
