The job ad was posted on jobs.act.gov.au last week, and applications close on 17 October.

The full position is executive branch manager Cyber Security Centre and chief information security officer (CISO). It is a full-time executive role, after the ACT government made the decision to invest more than $10 million in establishing its own Cyber Security Centre in 2021.

The role will be a part of the Digital, Data and Technology Solutions Group leadership team. The DDTS is responsible for driving a “whole-of-government” approach to information and communications technology, covering cyber security across government departments, schools, and the Canberra Institute of Technology.

“Success requires an outstanding leader with a strong track record of achievement in uplifting cyber posture in a complex environment,” the advertisement read. “You will be an influential communicator and have experience in driving security cultural change.”

The CISO role requires qualifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CISA, Australian citizenship, and is a security assessed position, NV1 (Secret).

According to ITNews, now that the role is an executive-level position, it has been newly advertised.

“The ACT Public Service advertises all new and elevated positions and undergoes a merit selection process as standard practice,” a spokesperson for the ACT government told ITNews.
