The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) has renewed its partnership with the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA), signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to support ongoing collaboration.

This is the third consecutive MoU signed between the organisations, and marks the first time a deal was not limited to a 12-month term.

As part of the ongoing agreement, the DTA and AIIA are expected to continue exchanging information, experiences and expertise in a bid to enhance the user experience of government-operated digital services.

“Our ongoing relationship with the DTA has benefited both parties,” AIIA CEO Ron Gauci said.

“The DTA has access to the best digital technology practices in Australia through the AIIA membership and is able to use our network – including SMEs – to understand how they can best implement change through Australia’s government digital services.

“The signing of the ongoing MOU between both parties demonstrates the commitment the DTA has to working with industry to collaborate and share knowledge.”

Gauci said the COVID-19 pandemic has presented a “once in lifetime opportunity” to reform and restructure the government’s digital platforms and services.

DTA CEO Randall Brugeaud added: “The importance of digital in enabling government service delivery really came to the fore in 2020.

“Australia’s ICT industry strongly supported the government’s COVID-19 response and is continuing to provide support as we move into the recovery phase.

“We look forward to working with industry, including through the AIIA, to deliver essential services to all Australians.”
