An alleged database of more than 700 students from Victoria’s Mt Hira College is being circulated on a popular clear web hacking forum.

The database contains the names, student IDs, classes, email addresses, and passwords of approximately 750 students from the co-educational, K-12 Islamic college.

The database is being offered for free, and the poster – by the name of sex666 – also notes the email platform the school uses.

The passwords are all listed in plain text and use very common word and number combinations.

As of writing, the particular hacking forum’s site is down, but Cyber Daily has observed the post and the data, which appear legitimate. The initial post was made on 27 April.

Mt Hira College is in the Melbourne suburb of Keysborough and was established in 2000.

“The mission of Mt Hira College is to inspire and encourage ‘Life Long Learning’ in each student by catering for their social, emotional, academic and spiritual needs within a positive, safe, caring, challenging and supportive learning environment,” the college’s website said.

“We are committed to raising upstanding and responsible citizens of tomorrow who will hold universal values in a globally and technologically advancing society.”

Mt Hira College has not responded to Cyber Daily’s request for comment.
