“The incident was detected and contained yesterday, and it is likely that data was accessed.

“We are working to investigate the cause and extent of the issue. Our normal operations are continuing as we assess any potential further impact.”

It is currently unknown what data was likely accessed nor how much. There are also no details regarding the nature of the attack, including how the threat actors gained access or what their motives were, such as financial gain through a ransomware attack.

“We are committed to keeping staff and students updated and informed as this situation develops.

“The university has also engaged external experts to support the effort and is liaising with the relevant regulators and authorities.

“We will provide updates as the situation evolves,” the university said.

This story will be updated as the case develops.
