Cyber security firm CrowdStrike has announced a new strategic partnership with graphics hardware giant NVIDIA.

The partnership will see NVIDIA’s GPU-optimised technology added to the CrowdStrike Falcon XDR platform, which will give customers of both companies the ability to create “custom and secure” generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools.

According to CrowdStrike, bringing “AI-powered security” into the hands of customers is an important part of combating the growing pace of cyber crime. CrowdStrike’s own 2024 CrowdStrike Global Threat Report showed that the time it takes for a threat actor to break out into an internal network is down to 62 minutes, while the fastest breakout time is just two.

“Since our founding, CrowdStrike has pioneered the use of AI in cyber security,” said George Kurtz, co-founder and chief executive at CrowdStrike, in a statement. “Our customers from all verticals, segments, and geographies are increasing adoption of AI/ML across their businesses, looking to generative AI for efficiency, speed, and innovation.

“Our collaboration with NVIDIA combines the power of two innovative industry leaders to not only help customers meet and exceed necessary security requirements but also increase adoption of AI technologies for business acceleration and value creation.”

Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, sees the entire issue as a data volume problem.

“Cyber security is inherently a data problem – the more data that enterprises can process, the more events they can detect and address,” Huang said.

“Pairing NVIDIA-accelerated computing and generative AI with CrowdStrike cyber security can give enterprises unprecedented visibility into threats to help them better protect their businesses.”
